Travel Trailer Camping Checklist

Travel Trailer Camping Checklist

Travel trailer camping is most effective with a checklist to ensure everything is in order. The list allows you to remain organized while rushing out the door with the excitement of the trip occupying the majority of your thoughts. The list is especially important when you are camping in a remote area without immediate access to services.

Kitchen

Stock the kitchen in your travel trailer with food, plates, utensils, food storage bags, a frying pan and cooking pots. Be sure there is propane for the stove and appliances and plan your meals based on the style of camping. Dry camping requires more dry foods to conserve power and RV parks allow for more perishables as you will plugged into their power. Also pack a barbecue grill, charcoal, lighter fluid and matches for cooking outside. Add a standard supply of spices and seasoning to add flavor to all of your meals.

Clothing

Be prepared for a variety of different weather patterns. Camping in a travel trailer allows the luxury for packing a little extra. Bring a base layer like long underwear, a warm layer and a winter coat. Also pack your shorts, swim trunks short sleeve shirts and comfort clothing. Always carry rain pants and a rain jacket in the trailer for wet weather. Bring a pair of hiking boots, flip flops for water use and an extra set of camp shoes. The variety of clothing will ensure you are warm, dry and comfortable.

Camp Equipment

Carry folding chairs, roll-up tables and screen houses to create a comfortable outdoor lounging environment. Also bring a backpack for hiking trips, water purification system, water bottles, your camera, compass or GPS, tarps, bungee cords, sunscreen, insect repellent and batteries for your electronics. Also pack cards, a cribbage board, a musical instrument and a radio for entertainment.

Safety

Carry a wrench set, screwdrivers, spare tire, fire extinguisher, air pump and flat repair kit. Also carry electrical and duct tape to make emergency repairs. The tools will allow you to make repairs in the field and they will prevent you from becoming stranded. Also carry a well-stocked first aid kit to treat any injuries at the camp site.

Bedding

Bedding is important for comfort and safety. Carry your normal set of sheets and blankets on the bed and store several extra blankets in the trailer. The extra blankets will help you stay warm if the temperature unexpectedly dips. Also carry pillows for comfort.
