Ideas for an "All About Me" Poster

What makes you who you are? Is it your family? Or is it the neighborhood, town, state or country you live in? What are your favorite activities? There are so many ways of looking at yourself and what makes you unique. Your personal identity involves layers of environmental influences and past experiences. In addition, you are a unique combination of personal preferences, hobbies, passions, strengths and challenges. In order to illustrate who you are, take a look at the following factors in your life. Exploring your identity will give you many ideas for making your "All About Me" poster.

Your Family and Friends

Your immediate family is likely to be one of the strongest influences on your personal identity. Are you the youngest, oldest or a middle child? Was your grandmother very involved with your upbringing? Consider the people who know you the best and have been by your side throughout the years. Who is your best friend? Why is this person important to you? Include photos of you with your family and friends on your poster. Make references to who these people are and why each person is important to your life.

Your Community

Where do you live? Have you lived anywhere else? Your community can be an important factor in your life. How has your environment affected you? Think about specific instances that have helped form your identity. The schools you attended. The clubs or teams you were involved in. If you have mementos from your schools, clubs or teams, consider adding them to your poster.

Your Religious Background

Are you involved in a religious community? Do you have any religious influences? For some, religion can have a profound impact. Religion can bring comfort and is a foundation for many.

Your Favorite Things

Your preferences can say a lot about who you are. What is your favorite food? How about your favorite color? Which holiday do you enjoy the most? Find some way to illustrate these preferences on your poster.

Your Passions

What do you find intriguing? Do you play sports? Do you love art? Science? Math? What do you love? What are your strengths as an individual? What challenges do you want to overcome?

Your Future

Think about what you would love to pursue in the future. Where would you live? What destinations would you travel to? What is your dream job? What would your life look like? Use magazine clippings or make sketches of your future plans.

Fun Additions

If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why? If you could meet anyone, alive or dead, who would you choose? What is your nickname? What is your astrological sign? What would you want to tell people about yourself that they may not already know? Be creative. Consider including quotes that inspire you. Use photos, mementos and artwork in a way that encompasses who you are.
