How to Use the Ab Lounge Sport

How to Use the Ab Lounge Sport

The Ab Lounge Sport is one of several exercise units on the market that promise to make exercising less strenuous and even fun. Built like a portable lounge chair, the Ab Lounge Sport is a perfect way to build up core muscles while watching TV or hanging out in the living room. While dozens of exercises can be done on this unit, some of the most basic consist of variations of the jackknife, an abdominal exercise usually performed on the floor.

Instructions

    1

Get on the Ab Lounge Sport by carefully positioning your buttocks firmly on the seat and feet on the floor. Raise your legs onto the leg supports. Your knees should be bent to about 90 degrees for the proper fit.

    2

Adjust the unit as needed. If you are not comfortably positioned on the unit, adjust the foot rest by unscrewing the knob beneath the foot rest crossbar and pulling out the pin. Slide the bar to match your height. Put the pin back in and tighten the knob.

    3

Do the jackknife. Sit back on the lounge with feet on the foot rest and your arms above on the pull up bar. Slowly exhale, pulling your arms forward and feet up so your abdomen contracts. Pause in a curled-up position, then slowly inhale and release. Repeat 15 times.

    4

Go for the oblique jackknife. Repeat the same actions as found in the regular jackknife, but twist your lower body and angle your knees 45 degrees away from the center. Exhale and curl inward, pause, inhale and go back to the starting position. Repeat 15 times on each side.

    5

Move on from the jackknife with with a leg lift. Use the same method as the basic jackknife, but once curled inward, lift one of your legs and pull that knee into your chest. Return to the starting position and do a second jackknife, lifting and pulling the other leg into the chest. Repeat each leg 15 times.
