Kids' Cop Games

Kids' Cop Games

From flashing lights to sirens, many children dream of becoming a heroic police officer when they grow up. Plan a memorable law enforcement party for your child to encourage his dreams. Your imagination is the only limit to creating a party filled with cop games for the kids to play. Awarding cop-themed prizes, such as police badges and toy handcuffs, to game winners will keep the children interested in the games.

Find the Candy

Tell the kids that a crook, who is already in jail, hid the piata that contains all the birthday candy and prizes. Explain to the children that it is their police task to follow a list of clues to find where the crook hid the candy. Hand the children the first clue, which says, "You will find your next clue where leaves may fall." Hide the next clue under a large tree outside. On the last clue, instruct the children to look where the piata is. They can bring the piata to you, so you can hang it up. Give the children a police-themed favor bag and give them each a shot at the piata with a broom handle. After the piata busts, the children can enjoy the candy they tracked down.

Cops and Robbers Tag

Select two kids to be the "cops" and have them put on a police badge. Have all the other children act as robbers and put on bright orange, black and white T-shirts. When you say, "Go," the cops must chase the robbers. When a cop tags a robber, he is out of the game. The last two players tagged are the cops for the next game.

Musical Police Items

Use a child-size police costume and accessories for this game of musical police items. You will need enough costume pieces and accessories for each player to have one, less one piece. Use items, such as child's handcuffs, hats, a police shirt, pants, a badge and a small pocket notepad. Place the items on a table and have all the children stand in a circle around the table. Play the theme song to the television show, "Cops," and have the children walk around the table. When the music stops, each player has to grab a police item from the table. The player left without a police item is out of the game. Remove one item and keep playing. The last player with a police item in her hand wins the game.

"Wanted" Posters

Make a "wanted" poster for each party guest with his picture on it. Explain to the kids to keep a lookout for random "wanted" posters. If they see a "wanted" poster, they must run and get the person to bring him to the party host. Both the player and the "wanted" person will receive a prize. Hang the "wanted" posters up at random times and in random places throughout the party.
