"Fear Factor" Kids Games

"Fear Factor" is a reality television show where contestants test their physical and mental skills in gross and terrifying challenges. When planning a "Fear Factor" theme party for your child, be sure to plan several different game challenges for the party guests to test their abilities. All you need is your imagination, a few supplies and kids fascinated with disgust to get started. Play these games at an outdoor party, as they can get messy.

Fly Challenge

Place five raisins on each of several paper plates and cover the "flies" on each plate with whipped cream. Have all the kids stand around a table and place one plate in front of each child. Explain to the party guests they are about to eat "flies" and the first one to eat them all wins the game. When you say, "Go," the kids must eat through the whipped cream, eat the flies and open his mouth to show you he ate them all. The first child to complete this challenge wins the game.

Endurance Test

Have the kids practice standing on one leg for about 2 minutes. Tell them to get in a ready position and when you say, "Go," they must stand on one leg for as long as possible. The person who accomplishes this the longest without touching his hands or other foot to the ground at any time --- wins the game.

Bug and Spider Race

Purchase several packages of plastic bugs and spiders. Cook 6 lbs. of linguine pasta and add food coloring to give the noodles an unusual, creepy color. Fill two large bowls with the pasta and place several of the bugs and spiders into them. Divide the players into two teams and have them line up. The first two players from each team must put on a shower cap and goggles. When you say, "Race," the two players have 1 minute to use only their mouths to try to find the creepy crawlers. They must pull the bugs out, using only their teeth and place them on the table beside the bowl. The player who finds the most bugs earns a point for his team. The team with the most points at the end of the game --- wins.

Find the Master Key

Purchase a padlock and place it around a chair or tree. Hide the master key as well as several other keys around the party area. To make the game messy, squirt piles of ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard in the yard. Hide some of the keys in the piles of condiments. When you say, "Find a key," the children must run around searching for keys. When they find a key, they must bring it to the padlock and try it, to see if it's the master key. The player who finds the master key and opens the padlock wins a small prize.
